ATLANTICO SUSTAINABILITY DAYS

15/11/2024

The Banco Millennium Atlântico Sustainability Days kicked off today in Luanda. The event aims to highlight the importance of this cornerstone in the corporate world, with the development of business strategies that combine the profit function with the defense of communities and the environment, thus creating long-term sustainable value.

Luanda, November 15, 2024 - Banco Millennium Atlântico held the first edition of the "Sustainability Days" today in the auditorium of Cidade Financeira in Luanda. As part of the institution's historic commitment to social responsibility and the sustainability of the country's economic activity, this event represents an important milestone in the Bank's journey towards choosing sustainability as a key factor in its business strategy, reflected in aspects such as the financial inclusion agenda or the granting of financing to structuring projects that contribute to Angola's economic diversification and the generation of positive social and environmental impacts.

The initiative had the institutional support of the United Nations Global Compact, strengthening the Bank's commitment to the universal principles of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In attendance were strategic entities from the national sustainability ecosystem such as the National Waste Agency, as well as clients, suppliers and business partners, including other banking institutions, with a view to strengthening a greener and more responsible economy in Angola.

"We have been driven by the vision of a future in which economic growth and environmental preservation go hand in hand. ATLANTICO is committed to an ESG agenda that it has been building, creating bridges towards genuinely sustainable and inclusive development for Angola," highlights António Assis, the Chairman of the Bank's Board of Directors.

"With the Sustainability Days we want to strengthen our leadership by example and inspire our country to deepen sustainability and good financial practices among decision-makers, entrepreneurs and the surrounding communities," said Yuma Santos, Director of Sustainability and Impact at Banco Millennium Atlântico.

The "Sustainability Days" seek to  position themselves as a space for dialogue and awareness-raising at national level, in which companies and public decision-makers have the opportunity to present solutions and innovations in the business field that contribute to environmental preservation and social development, creating a stronger economic environment capable of keeping up with major challenges facing the economy and national development.

During the event, stakeholders visited a small exhibition, which brought together companies focused on environmental impact services, driving collaboration on projects that prioritize waste management and energy efficiency, among others.
